Rallycross motor sport

Rallycross may be one of the most exciting motor sports around, combining high speed track action and off road sections, the action is frantic, fast and very often sideways. Contact isn’t banned as it is in many other motor sports and the short races offer plenty of on track excitement.

The FIA World Rallycross Championship has some of the worlds best racing with big name drivers (like WRC champion Petter Solberg) and incredible, high powered cars. The cars may look like souped up hatchbacks but they’re serious machines with 600 bhp and 0-60 in under 2 seconds and no driver aids.

Races are divided into 4 heats, 2 semi finals and a final for the top 6 cars. The track has a mix of asphalt and gravel surfaces and each race must include one joker lap that takes in an extra section of track, adding vital seconds.

The WRX Championship comes to the UK this May at Lydden Hill and is well worth checking out.
