The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is well underway in Las Vegas, with big-name manufacturers revealing what they see as the technologies of the future.
Already we’ve seen Toyota’s hydrogen fuel-cell-powered FCV concept, the production version of which is just a year away from going on sale. There’s also been a public preview of the new Mercedes-Benz C-class, with Mercedes also announcing a new smart watch venture in collaboration with Pebble.
Elsewhere, Ford has shown its new C-max Hybrid concept, which runs from solar power, while Audi is demostrating its new laser lighting technology with the Audi Sport quattro Laserlight concept.
Volvo has revealed its new cloud-based infotainment suite. Rather than storing navigation and audio data within the car, users can now stream music from the cloud as well as selecting navigation functions through their mobile phone. A new Park & Pay function allows drivers to pre-pay for parking at their destination.
The BMW i Remote App for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch integrates with the BMW i3’s systems to provide a range of information to the wearer. The prototype app can display the i3’s range, available charge and allows the user to send destinations to the navigation system and prime the climate control using either text entry or voice recognition.
